Job summary

TaxBit in Seattle seeks a Staff Software Engineer to own AWS-based cloud infrastructure, driving architecture, automation, and reliability for the platform used by customers and internal teams.

You will lead CI/CD, IaC (CDK preferred, Terraform acceptable), logging/monitoring, and AI Ops practices while collaborating with security and compliance to raise velocity and safety. This hybrid role offers competitive compensation and equity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript, or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, GitHub, and Infrastructure-as-Code (CDK preferred, Terraform acceptable).
• Experience designing backup, data architecture, and disaster recovery for cloud systems.
• Experience implementing logging and monitoring/observability solutions.
• Security-minded with guardrails in engineering workflows.
• Familiarity with collaboration tools like Linear/Jira and Databricks.
• Knowledge of AI governance and AI security risks.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate secure, highly available AWS infrastructure.
• Own infrastructure-as-code using AWS CDK or Terraform.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
• Define backup and disaster recovery strategies across cloud data stores.
• Architect data storage and processing patterns for scalability and cost efficiency.
• Implement centralized logging, monitoring, and observability.
• Maintain security guardrails across the development lifecycle.
• Automate workflows to reduce manual toil in provisioning and deployments.
• Debug complex issues in distributed systems and drive durable fixes.
• Apply AI Ops/AI DevOps practices to deploy and manage AI-enabled systems.
