Job summary

The Office of the Minnesota Attorney General seeks a senior infrastructure engineer to design, deploy, and secure hybrid cloud/on‑prem environments (Azure/AWS, Windows Server, VMware/Hyper‑V). You will lead migrations, implement governance, and drive automation across identity, storage, and backups.

You will act as a senior escalation point, improve resiliency, and partner with security and networking teams to uphold statewide standards while shaping modernization efforts.

Qualifications

• Degree in information technology, information systems, or closely related field plus four+ years of related work experience
• OR six+ years of related work experience
• Experience administering Azure and/or AWS cloud environments, including IAM, compute, networking, storage, governance, billing, and monitoring
• Experience with Windows Server, virtualization, storage technologies, certificates, and enterprise backup solutions such as Veeam or CommVault
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex incidents across cloud and on‑prem environments
• Automation experience (PowerShell, CLI, APIs) and monitoring
• Knowledge of disaster recovery, HA architectures, and backup strategies

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, configure, and administer AGO's cloud and on‑prem infrastructure (Azure, AWS, Windows Server, virtualization)
• Implement governance, security baselines, monitoring, logging, alerts, and access policies
• Lead cloud migrations, resiliency improvements, lifecycle management, and platform upgrades
• Manage backup, replication, and DR configurations with Azure and Veeam
• Serve as senior escalation point for complex incidents across servers, cloud services, identity, storage, and backups
• Develop automation using PowerShell, CLI, IaC, and cloud APIs
• Monitor performance with dashboards, baselines, proactive tuning
• Maintain directory services and hybrid identity components (Entra ID, CA, MFA)
• Coordinate with security, application, and networking teams on changes
• Evaluate emerging technologies and modernize AGO infrastructure
• Plan high‑impact infrastructure changes requiring senior judgment
