Job Summary

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design, engineer, configure, and administer the AGO's cloud and on premises infrastructure, including Azure, AWS, Windows Server, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper V), storage systems, and identity services.
- Implement and maintain governance, security baselines, monitoring, logging, alerting, and access policies across infrastructure to ensure compliant, reliable, and secure operations.
- Lead modernization and architecture improvements by planning and executing cloud migrations, resiliency enhancements, lifecycle management, and platform upgrades.
- Manage and optimize backup, replication, and disaster recovery configurations using Azure and Veeam to ensure recoverability of critical AGO systems.
- Serve as a senior technical escalation point for high complexity incidents involving servers, cloud services, identity platforms, storage, virtualization, and backups; conduct root cause analysis and lead remediation efforts.
- Develop automation solutions using PowerShell, CLI, Infrastructure as Code principles, and cloud APIs to improve consistency, reduce manual effort, and enhance operational reliability.
- Monitor infrastructure performance by building dashboards, establishing baselines, identifying early degradation, and implementing proactive performance tuning or corrective actions.
- Maintain and enhance directory services, identity integrations (Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA), certificates, and related security components supporting AGO's hybrid environment.
- Coordinate closely with security, application, and networking teams to ensure that infrastructure changes, cloud configurations, and system updates align with AGO and statewide security standards.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, platform updates, and industry best practices, and apply relevant advancements to AGO infrastructure to support ongoing modernization and efficiency.
- Plan and execute high impact infrastructure changes or migrations that require senior level judgment, careful risk assessment, and cross team communication.
- Provide technical leadership by contributing to architectural discussions, mentoring IT staff, and communicating complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work environment (combination of required in-office work and optional telework) after successful completion of onboarding and training.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in information technology, information systems, or closely related field AND four or more years of directly related work experience
- OR six or more years of directly related work experience
- Experience administering and supporting Azure and/or AWS cloud environments, including identity and access management, compute, networking, storage (Azure Files, Azure Blob, SharePoint), governance, billing, and monitoring.
- Professional experience administering and troubleshooting Windows Server, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper‑V), storage technologies, certificates, and enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, CommVault).
- Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex, multi‑platform technical incidents and conduct thorough root‑cause analysis across cloud and on‑premise environments.
- Experience with infrastructure automation (PowerShell, CLI, APIs), monitoring tools, and performance tuning of cloud and hybrid systems.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery, resilience patterns, high‑availability architectures, and enterprise backup strategies.
- Strong communication, documentation, collaboration, organizational, and customer‑service skills; ability to work independently, multitask, and adapt to evolving technologies and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IT service management practices (incident, problem, change management) and cross‑team operational coordination.
- Experience with advanced cloud and infrastructure technologies beyond the minimum requirements, including multi‑cluster virtualization, enterprise storage, virtual firewalls, cloud security, and hybrid identity.
- Proficiency with programming and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, SQL, Python, .NET) and experience developing automation or workflow integrations for multi‑tier systems.
- Experience designing, administering, or optimizing enterprise‑scale monitoring and observability frameworks (log analytics, dashboards, automated remediation workflows).
- Experience leading technical initiatives such as cloud modernization, architectural design, infrastructure migrations, or cross‑functional working groups, including producing documentation or standards.
- Experience evaluating and applying emerging automation or AI technologies to improve infrastructure engineering, troubleshooting, monitoring, or documentation.
- Broader security engineering background, including certificate/PKI design, secrets management, secure access controls, or incident response across cloud and on‑prem systems.
