Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Lead Clinical Coordinator to supervise clinical pharmacy support functions, including refills, delivery coordination, prior authorizations and financial assistance, ensuring high patient care standards and efficient operations.

You will train a team of pharmacy technicians, collaborate with pharmacists, providers and patients, and drive continuous improvement in medication services and outcomes.

Qualifications

• 3-4 years pharmacy technician experience in a retail long term care mail order or specialty pharmacy setting.
• 1-2 years Clinical Coordinator (or similar) role required.
• Previous training or supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Orients, trains, mentors and supports new clinical coordinators; acclimates new hires with workflows and computer systems.
• Provides ongoing training to enhance competence, productivity and customer service.
• Fosters effective communication with pharmacy teams and providers.
• Serves as primary contact for resolving operational barriers and workflow challenges.
• Assigns and monitors daily tasks including benefits investigation, prior authorizations, copay/foundation assistance, onboarding, delivery coordination, drug replacement and refill outreach.
• Contributes to workload to meet deadlines and fill coverage gaps.
• Recommends SOPs to ensure consistency and compliance.
• Assists in developing clinic strategy and builds relationships with patients and teams.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
