The role requires collaboration with underwriting, legal, reinsurance, brokers, and insureds to align on strategy, mentor staff, and guide claims actions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of Commercial Claims (Excess and General Liability, Environmental, etc.), claims investigation, coverage evaluation, reserving, finance.
• Direct and develop staff; implement strategies from senior leaders; achieve goals ethically.
• Planning, organizing work, communication, diplomacy, business acumen, and adaptability are essential.

Responsibilities

• Direct a team to ensure resources and skills for complex Excess claims.
• Drive urgency, accountability, collaboration, and clear communication.
• Partner with Underwriting, Legal, Reinsurance, Brokers, Insureds, and Counsel on claim strategy.
• Model leadership and decisive decision-making in a dynamic environment.
• Develop and engage claims staff and address underperformers.
• Drive continuous improvement and organizational effectiveness.
• Participate in short- to medium-term strategic planning.
• Review and approve expenses and settlements within authority; refer beyond limits.
• Monitor reserves and ensure accuracy and timely establishment.
• Prepare management reports on operations and performance trends.
• Stay aware of legislation and trends in claims litigation.
