Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Manager Claims to lead a team handling some of the insurer’s most significant environmental and latent bodily injury matters from the CCU. This leadership role focuses on delivering high-quality outcomes, executive-level collaboration, and strong financial stewardship.

Hybrid or remote work is available; candidates near Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Phoenix, AZ, or Naperville, IL may work in-office part of the week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; advanced degree or professional designations (JD, CPCU, AIC, ARM) are a plus.
• Minimum of 7 years of casualty claim experience within a property and casualty claim organization.
• Experience handling environmental, toxic tort, asbestos, latent bodily injury or long-tail liability claims.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach, and develop staff to achieve goals and perform their jobs.
• Lead a team handling complex environmental and long-tail liability claims including coordination with counsel and experts.
• Provide strategic oversight on coverage, liability, damages, allocation, and litigation management.
• Develop and implement innovative claim disposition strategies for timely resolutions.
• Monitor claim performance, reserving accuracy, and financial results; identify trends and act on them.
• Communicate industry developments and regulatory changes affecting exposures.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to manage litigation and settlements.
