Job summary

The Hartford is seeking an Environmental Claim Specialist within the Complex Claims Unit to manage the most complex, high-exposure environmental and pollution claims. You’ll leverage deep knowledge of liability, coverage and litigation strategy to resolve cases efficiently and accurately.

Qualifications

• 5+ years general liability claim handling with environmental or latent injury claims.
• Experience in affirmative risk transfer and additional insured tenders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and analytical thinking.
• Ability to present in roundtables with a well-reasoned and analytical evaluation.
• Active Property & Casualty Adjuster license or ability to obtain within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Manage the most complex, high-value claims with detailed knowledge and a clear strategy for resolution.
• Participate in audits, projects and training initiatives.
• Provide proactive communications to customers and business partners during management and resolution of claims.
• Review and analyze complex policies and coverage parts (GL, umbrella, pollution).
• Write and articulate clear, concise coverage positions.
• Conduct investigations regarding claims and/or lawsuits; manage litigation planning/budgeting.
• Develop and articulate complex coverage, liability and damage assessments; provide leadership input.
• Attend mediations and trials as necessary; proactively manage expenses, reserves and financials.
