Job summary

Markel seeks a claims professional to resolve moderate complexity Workers’ Compensation claims across multiple jurisdictions, with authority-based decision making under supervision. Responsibilities include reviewing policies, determining coverage, and coordinating investigations to assess insured exposure.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), an adjuster or legal license, and at least five years of claims handling experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Adjusters’ license or legal license in at least one jurisdiction.
• Minimum 5 years of claims handling experience.
• Strong written and oral communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Handles claims in all jurisdictions across multiple lines of coverage.
• Manages litigated and non-litigated property damage claims up to $250,000.
• Handles non-litigated bodily injury claims up to $250,000 in all jurisdictions.
• Reviews policies and documents to confirm coverage; drafts coverage position letters.
• Analyzes coverage and communicates positions to insureds and stakeholders.
• Identifies losses to report to SIU and coordinates investigations.
• Sets reserves within authority or recommends reserve changes to manager.
• Represents Markel in mediations as required and maintains high level of customer service.
