Markel is seeking a claims professional to resolve moderate complexity Workers' Compensation claims across jurisdictions. You will investigate, negotiate, settle and analyze coverage, while collaborating with underwriters and defense counsel.

The role requires 4+ years of insurance experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage complex litigation with travel 10–20%. This is a remote position with hybrid work options.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum 4+ years of insurance experience.
• Experience managing relationships with third-party administrators, MGAs, and/or MGUs is a plus.
• Diploma and professional designations preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Sound understanding of casualty liability and excess liability insurance coverage.
• Ability to analyze and convey complex issues and develop action plans.
• Experience in determining contractual obligations, insurance coverage analyses, and investigations; litigation experience a plus.
• Ability to manage complex litigation and set loss and expense reserves.
• Work collaboratively and as a team player within the Unit and Casualty Division.
• Travel required approximately 10–20%.

Aufgaben

• Investigate, negotiate and settle non-complex primary and excess policy casualty claims including negligence, premise liability, commercial automobile, construction bodily injury, construction defect, product liability, and sexual assault.
• Investigate and analyze coverage under primary and excess casualty insurance policies; make coverage determinations; draft routine coverage correspondence; communicate coverage positions to policyholders and other stakeholders.
• Manage litigation nationwide against insureds; appoint and direct defense counsel; work toward expeditious resolution; assist in vendor management, disbursement and legal collections.
• Communicate with underwriting as needed to manage claims and alert of developments.
• Provide management with updates on adverse case developments and relevant issues affecting professional liability.
• Demonstrate collaboration in a team environment.
• Analyze and summarize complex issues and develop action plans orally and in writing.
• Maintain adherence to internal guidelines and reporting requirements.
• Support and contribute to initiatives and action plans by management.
• Participate in agent-related functions and meetings as required.
• Engage in ongoing claims examiner training and development.
