Job summary

RLI Insurance Company is seeking a seasoned Claim Counsel to manage nationwide coverage and bad faith litigation. The role involves advising the Claim Department on coverage issues, reviewing documents, and coordinating with outside counsel to achieve fair, efficient outcomes.

The ideal candidate holds a J.D. with at least eight years of relevant experience, preferably in both law firms and insurance settings.

Qualifications

• J.D. is required.
• Minimum of 8 years practicing law, preferably in law firm and insurance.
• Experience handling coverage and bad faith litigation under CGL and/or first party property policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent legal advice on claim-related matters and coverage issues.
• Manage outside coverage counsel and review filings and discovery responses.
• Resolve claim-related coverage litigation fairly, expeditiously, and economically.
• Advise Claim Department on coverage issues and policy language.
• Research external coverage decisions across multiple US jurisdictions.
• Train and advise Claim Department on litigation management and documentation.
