Job summary

Summit Design and Engineering Services in Colorado is seeking a senior Civil Engineer to lead planning, development, and execution of site and civil projects with minimal supervision. You will serve as the primary client contact, coordinating with design teams to ensure timely, accurate deliverables and strong relationships.

The ideal candidate holds a BSCE, has 5+ years of progressive site/civil design experience across retail, commercial, and public sectors, and is proficient in Civil 3D,

Qualifications

• BSCE from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive site/civil design experience.
• Expertise in site layout, grading, storm drainage, stormwater management, water and sewer utilities.
• In-depth knowledge of local entitlement and permitting regulations.
• Proficiency in design tools: Autodesk Civil 3D, Hydraflow, WaterCAD, Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven leadership and collaboration with diverse project teams.
• Willingness to participate in professional development and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, development, and execution of civil engineering projects with minimal supervision.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, fostering strong relationships through regular communication and collaboration.
• Participate in preparation and review of project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Oversee and assign responsibilities to team members to ensure timely and accurate project delivery.
• Perform detailed QA/QC checks on deliverables and ensure compliance with design standards.
• Navigate entitlement and permitting processes including rezoning and site plan approvals.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members with technical guidance.
• Manage project budgets, invoicing, and coordination with sub-consultants.
• Support business development and maintain existing client relationships.
