Job summary

Summit in Raleigh seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to lead planning, design, and delivery of site projects with minimal supervision. You will coordinate with clients, prepare proposals, schedules, and cost estimates, and supervise project teams.

The role requires strong knowledge of entitlement processes, stormwater, utilities, and compliance with local codes, plus proficiency in Civil 3D, Hydraflow, WaterCAD, and Excel.

Qualifications

• BSCE from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years' progressive site/civil design experience across retail, commercial, public, and residential projects.
• Expertise in site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater, utilities, and erosion control.
• Knowledge of local entitlement and permitting regulations.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, Hydraflow, WaterCAD, and Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead and collaborate with diverse project teams.
• Willingness to engage in professional development and community events.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, development, and execution of civil engineering projects with minimal supervision.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, fostering strong relationships through regular communication and collaboration.
• Participate in the preparation and review of project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Oversee and assign responsibilities to team members to ensure timely and accurate project delivery.
• Perform detailed QA/QC checks on technical deliverables and ensure compliance with design standards.
• Navigate entitlement and permitting processes, including rezoning and site plan approvals.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members, providing technical guidance.
• Manage project budgets, invoicing, and coordination with sub-consultants.
• Support business development, participate in industry events and maintain client relationships.
