Job summary

SUMMIT DESIGN AND ENGINEERING SERVICES, INC. in Asheville, NC seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to lead planning, development, and execution of site/civil projects with minimal supervision.

You will serve as primary client contact, fostering relationships through regular communication and responsive problem-solving. Responsibilities include QA/QC, entitlement and permitting processes, mentoring, budgets and invoicing, and collaboration with sub-consultants.

Qualifications

• BSCE from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive site/civil design experience.
• Strong knowledge of site layout, grading, storm drainage, utilities and erosion control.
• Familiarity with local entitlement and permitting regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, development, and execution of civil engineering projects with minimal supervision.
• Serve as primary client contact, fostering relationships through regular communication and problem-solving.
• Prepare and review project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Oversee and assign responsibilities to team members to ensure timely delivery.
• Perform QA/QC checks on deliverables and ensure standards compliance.
• Navigate entitlement and permitting processes, including rezonings and site plan approvals.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members and manage project budgets and invoicing.
• Support business development and maintain client relationships with sub-consultants.
