Job summary

Kiewit in Lenexa, KS (Kansas City metro) is seeking a Senior Civil Estimator to join its Central District estimating team. The role leads complete estimates for self-performed civil infrastructure projects including heavy civil, highway, bridge, rail/transit, utilities and water/wastewater.

You will mentor junior estimators, collaborate with preconstruction and construction teams, review plans, develop takeoffs, and drive accurate bids for EPC style work while upholding Kiewit's high standards.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering, construction, estimating or similar field and 5+ years' related estimating infrastructure experience
• Experience leading estimates and small estimating teams with coaching/mentoring
• Attention to detail, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and estimating tools including InEight
• Ability to conduct site visits and collaborate with stakeholders during bid prep

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead complete estimates and quantity takeoffs for self-performed civil construction scopes for design/build, design/bid/build and EPC projects
• Review owner plans and specs to understand project scope and craft an estimate plan
• Assess bid documents and prepare cost estimates, consulting with home office and clients as needed
• Conduct site investigations to identify conditions impacting estimates
• Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, superintendents and clients to align expectations and scheduling
• Stay informed on industry trends, equipment, methods and procedures
• Become proficient in InEight Estimate and related estimating software
• Provide leadership in subcontractor and vendor selection; may lead small teams and estimates
• Prepare specialized engineering studies or reports and address bid changes with clients
