Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineers in Lenexa, KS, part of Kiewit Corporation, seeks an Estimator to prepare, review and present estimates for large power projects across North America. You will perform manhour and cost analyses, develop bid packages, and coordinate with internal disciplines to ensure complete, accurate estimates.

Responsibilities include crane planning, interpreting RFPs and drawings, and presenting findings to management and clients.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in mechanical, electrical, civil or construction-related technology.
• 1+ years of related construction, field, or office experience preferred.
• Knowledge and/or demonstrated experience with complex EPC or bid/build projects, specifically mechanical equipment scope.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand/visualize mechanical drawings and P&ID's.
• Exceptionally strong attention to detail, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); Bluebeam/Hard Dollar/3D Lift Plan/SketchUp preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support development of complete mechanical equipment estimates for large, complex power projects across North America.
• Determine installation quantities necessary for mechanical work based on drawings, specifications, and past project equipment arrangements.
• Develop and review bid packages for subcontractor and suppliers as required for the work.
• Develop crane plans and determine construction equipment necessary to install mechanical equipment.
• Review the owner’s RFP and plans/specifications to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project.
• Prepare and present your estimate to management team and external clients.
• Collaborate with the disciplines to eliminate any gaps in work scope and/or technical deliverables.
• Stay aware of trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods, and procedures that are developing across the company and industry.
