Job summary

Kiewit Power Constructors seeks a Civil Estimator to lead civil takeoffs and bid development for large-scale power projects. You will partner with engineering, procurement, and operations to deliver accurate estimates in a fast-paced environment.

Based in Lenexa, KS, this full-time role requires 1–3 years in civil estimation and a solid grasp of drawings, cost data, and supplier outreach. You will use Trimble and InEight tools to prepare volumes and quotes.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate civil engineering, construction management or related degree, or equivalent experience in a construction-related position.
• 1-3 years of related professional experience in the construction field, civil preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
• Demonstrated ownership, dependability, and commitment to producing accurate work under bid deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to travel as required for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Develop quantities and costs for large scale earthwork operations on power projects.
• Prepare review documents and defend estimate development in management reviews.
• Review historical production rates, lessons learned, and cost data to improve estimate accuracy.
• Complete an RFP and specification review for an assigned project, assessing the risk areas and incorporating solutions into the estimate basis.
• Complete material and quantity takeoffs according to bid documents.
• Use Trimble and other software to prepare earthwork volumes and perform takeoffs.
• Enter quantities and costs into InEight Estimate and maintain throughout the estimate.
• Work with suppliers and subcontractors to get quotes and buyout costs incorporated into the civil estimate.
