Job summary

The City of Elko is seeking a semi-skilled engineering, drafting, surveying, and field inspection professional under the supervision of the City Engineer and/or the Senior Staff Engineer. Duties include administering the City's GIS system, performing CAD drafting for the Engineering Department, inspecting city improvements, and assisting with legal data for rights‑of‑way and easements.

The role requires knowledge of civil engineering concepts, GIS, and surveying, plus ability to work in office

Qualifications

One year experience in surveying, drafting, and inspection of a civil engineering nature.
One year of GIS or CADD experience.
Any equivalent combination of training and experience that allows the incumbent to perform the required duties.

Responsibilities

Administer the City's GIS system, including the development, maintenance, and enhancement of geospatial databases.
Perform the duties of a CADD draftsman of the Engineering Department;
This position will be responsible to perform closure checks on all City subdivision maps and City parcel maps for map accuracy and completeness;
Assists the City Engineer in preparing data for legal documents for rights‑of‑way and easements required for public improvements of the City;
Assists in the preparation of specifications, computations, and time and material estimates;
Assists on land and water rights surveys as required;
Performs inspections of city improvements as required;
Performs sedentary work in office environment as well as manual work associated with field duties, in sometimes, inclement weather conditions.
