Job summary

The City of Elizabethtown is seeking a talented engineer to provide technical services for public works and utility activities. The position requires office and outdoor work, with CAD and Office 365 skills being advantageous.

Responsibilities include design for utility, stormwater, and roadway improvements, plan reviews, site inspections, surveying, cost estimation, and GIS maintenance. Strong communication with staff, contractors, and the public is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or a combination of significant technical or construction experience with a high school diploma or equivalent GED.
• Ability to read, write legibly, and communicate effectively in English.
• Possess a valid Kentucky Driver’s License or able to attain within 30 days of employment.
• Physically capable of performing essential job functions.
• Able to meet and communicate with the public in an effective and tactful manner.
• Neat in appearance, of good moral character, and not convicted of a felony crime.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design for utility, stormwater, and roadway improvements.
• Assist in the review of improvement plans for subdivisions and site development projects.
• Assist in the inspection of subdivisions, developments, and new/existing infrastructure.
• Assist in surveying new and existing infrastructure.
• Prepare engineering plans and cost estimates for review by City Engineer.
• Conduct tests on new and existing infrastructure.
• Communicate with City personnel, contractors, developers, and the public.
• Assist in GIS maintenance and utility map information.
