Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC in Logan, Utah is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead municipal and county infrastructure projects and engage directly with public agency clients. You will deliver planning, design, and construction services while mentoring junior staff and pursuing new business opportunities.

The role emphasizes leadership, client coordination, and multidisciplinary project delivery across transportation, water, wastewater, and utilities.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in consulting civil engineering with public agency projects.
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering and Utah P.E. license or ability to obtain.
Experience attending meetings with city, county, municipal, or other public agency representatives.
Experience delivering public infrastructure projects in transportation, stormwater, water/wastewater, or other civil infrastructure.
Strong understanding of civil engineering design principles, local codes, permitting requirements, and applicable public agency standards.
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information, present project updates, and coordinate effectively with public agency clients and stakeholders.
Experience developing and maintaining relationships with municipalities, counties, public works departments, and utilities.
A proven history of successfully managing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
Ability to develop practical and creative engineering solutions that address project constraints and community needs.
Experience supporting business development, preparing proposals, and identifying opportunities to expand client relationships.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, staff, and management.

Responsibilities

Serve as a senior technical lead on projects with a cumulative annual project total exceeding $750K.
Contribute to successful business development efforts exceeding $250K annually.
Manage civil engineering projects for municipal, county, and other public agency clients, from planning and design through construction and close-out.
Attend and participate in city council, county commission, public works, and other agency meetings to discuss projects, present technical information, and coordinate with stakeholders.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with municipal and county representatives, public works departments, utilities, and other key clients.
Estimate and budget labor hours for design projects; review job costing reports and take corrective action, as necessary.
Oversee and take accountability for project schedules, budgets, technical quality, and client satisfaction to ensure project objectives are met.
Mentor and support the professional development of junior engineering staff.
Identify and participate in business development opportunities, proposal pursuits, and client presentations.
Participate in professional organizations and community functions to strengthen client relationships and expand the firm's presence.
