Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Civil Engineer (hybrid in Glen Allen, VA) to join a multi-disciplinary team focused on power plants and industrial projects. You will develop site designs, perform earthwork calculations, and coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulators.

Ideal candidates hold a BSCE, have or can obtain a PE license, and bring 5+ years of project-team experience in site grading, stormwater, and road/rail design. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• BSCE from ABET-accredited program.
• PE license or ability to obtain.
• 5+ years in project teams for industrial design; power plant experience preferred.
• Experience in technical writing for reports, calculations, specs.
• Experience obtaining site permits from regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare calculations for storm water drainage, sewer systems, pavements, ponds, and earthwork.
• Prepare technical specifications for construction requirements.
• Create site layout, grading, and drainage designs; produce 3-D models and drawings.
• Design storm drainage systems, roads, trackwork, water storage, and disposal ponds.
• Review contractor/submittal drawings for conformity with specs.
• Travel to client offices or plant sites for reviews and verification.
