Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Civil Engineer for site development and multi‑discipline project work in the power plant sector. You will develop civil designs for plants, substations, and transmission facilities, coordinating with project managers, clients, contractors, and permitting agencies.

Based in New Orleans with potential travel, the role requires a BSCE, PE or ability to obtain, and 5+ years of industrial project experience including site grading and earthwork.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSCE from an ABET-accredited program.
• PE license or ability to obtain PE license is required.
• Five+ years in a project team environment for industrial design, power plant experience preferred, with site grading and mass earthwork, storm water, sanitary sewage, road and railroad track design.

Responsibilities

• Prepare calculations related to storm water drainage, sanitary sewer systems, pavement thickness, ponds and earthwork for permitting and design.
• Prepare technical specifications to define construction requirements.
• Prepare site layout, grading, and drainage designs and create 3-D models and drawings.
• Design storm drainage systems, roads, trackwork, water storage and wastewater disposal ponds, and landfills.
• Review contractor and vendor submittals for conformance with specifications.
• Occasional travel to client offices or plant sites for design reviews and field verification.
