Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Glen Allen, VA seeks a civil engineer to design and supervise industrial projects, with a hybrid work schedule of three days in office weekly.

The role requires a BSCE, PE (or ability to obtain), 5+ years in project teams, and experience in site grading, storm-water, sanitary systems, and regulatory coordination. Proficiency in Civil 3D, StormCad, PondPack, AutoTurn and MS Office is expected.

Qualifications

• BSCE from ABET-accredited program.
• PE license or able to earn one.
• 5+ years in project teams for industrial design (power-plant experience preferred).
• Experience writing reports, calculations and specifications.
• Experience obtaining site permits from regulatory agencies.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D, StormCad, PondPack, AutoTurn.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication; team player.

Responsibilities

• Prepare calculations for storm-water drainage, sanitary sewer systems, pavement thickness, ponds, landfills and earthwork.
• Prepare technical specifications defining construction requirements.
• Design site layout, grading and drainage; create 3-D models and drawings.
• Design storm drainage systems, roads, trackwork, ponds, wastewater disposal.
• Review contractor drawings for conformity with specs.
• Coordinate with pm, client, contractors, suppliers and permitting agencies.
• Travel to client offices and plant sites for reviews and field verification.
• Provide leadership to engineers and designers on scope and complexity.
