Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH), a national engineering firm, seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team. You will contribute to land development, site improvement, drainage design, and adaptive reuse projects, collaborating with architects and specialists to deliver robust, code-compliant solutions.

The ideal candidate has 9+ years of civil engineering experience, a professional license, and an advanced degree (MS/PhD).

Qualifications

• 9+ years of relevant civil engineering experience or equivalent in a related field.
• Professional licensure required.
• MS or PhD with a concentration in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, or plan to obtain MS within 4 years using tuition reimbursement.

Responsibilities

• Preparing proposals, including budgeting and personnel requirements.
• Planning work for supervisor approval.
• Conducting assignments with general guidance for solving unusual problems.
• Managing a complex project with supervision, evaluating results, and preparing reports with minimal assistance.
• Delegating tasks and coaching project staff.
• Managing direct client contact within existing work while building external relationships.
• Contributing to internal technical training.
• Drafting complex letters, reports, specifications, and proposals with minimal supervision.
• Leading technical and/or project discussions with clients and external teams.
