We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead the delivery of land planning and development projects from concept through construction. This role will involve providing technical direction on residential, commercial, industrial and mixed‑use schemes, while working closely with clients, planners, architects, surveyors, contractors and regulatory authorities. You will manage civil engineering design packages, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs and ensure that solutions are practical, compliant, cost-effective and aligned with project objectives.
Key responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing drainage, highways, earthworks, utilities and infrastructure designs; overseeing site appraisals, feasibility studies and technical reports; and supporting planning applications, detailed design submissions and construction documentation. You will review drawings, specifications, calculations and technical documents produced by project teams, ensuring a consistently high standard of quality. The role will also include attending design and progress meetings, liaising with stakeholders, managing project programmes and budgets, mentoring junior engineers and helping to develop strong client relationships. You may also contribute to business development activities, fee proposals and the identification of new market opportunities.
Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering and have substantial experience in land development or related civil engineering consultancy work. Chartered or working towards chartership status is desirable. Strong technical knowledge of relevant design standards, planning processes, drainage strategies, highway requirements and infrastructure coordination is essential. Experience with design and modelling software, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, drainage or hydraulic modelling packages, will be advantageous. You will need excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and provide confident technical leadership. A proactive, collaborative approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality work are essential.
