Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Construction Field IIC to oversee inspection and engineering activities on multi-lane highway and bridge projects, ensuring compliance with plans and specs. You will provide technical leadership, manage multiple projects, and interpret complex designs to resolve field issues.

The role includes coordinating with municipalities and Utilities, preparing reports and estimates, supervising staff, and ensuring quality and safety across projects.

Qualifications

• Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
• Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
• Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Provide engineering analysis and guidance to resolve complex field issues
• Project Oversight: Manage multiple construction projects from start to finish using sound engineering practices
• Plan Interpretation: Review and interpret designs to address discrepancies and ensure intended results
• Coordination Efforts: Work with municipalities, utilities, businesses, and other partners to address project needs
• Documentation Management: Prepare reports, estimates, and work orders while tracking material certifications
• Staff Supervision: Direct, evaluate, and support the work of subordinate employees
