Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation, seeks a Construction Field IIC in Allentown to lead inspection teams on complex highway projects, review field work, and resolve issues with municipalities, utilities and emergency services. This role emphasizes public safety and reliable transportation.

You will oversee inspection activities, manage documentation, coordinate with partners, and guide subordinates while supporting training.

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Transportation Construction Manager 1; or Five years in construction inspection, three of which in supervisory capacity; high school or equivalent; substitutions applicable.
• Completion of a training program in construction inspection may substitute for high school. An Associate Degree may substitute for one year of non-supervisory experience.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct inspection activities on assigned highway construction projects.
• Coordinate solutions with municipalities, utilities, emergency services, and other partners.
• Prepare reports, work orders, estimates, and track material certifications.
• Oversee inspection of materials and workmanship for compliance with standards and specifications.
• Evaluate plans, permits, and designs to support constructability and maintenance-friendly outcomes.
• Guide and evaluate the work of subordinates while supporting training and development.
