Job summary

The University of Michigan Health System is seeking a Civil Design Manager to report to the Director of Design/University Architect. You will lead civil capital projects, develop program statements, evaluate proposals, and direct engineers and consultants through planning, design and documentation.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license, the ABET-accredited degree, and 5+ years of civil engineering experience, with strong project coordination skills for city/MDOT interfaces.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering.
• Registration as professional engineer (PE).
• Broad knowledge of civil engineering principles.
• Bachelor's degree from ABET-accredited program.
• References supporting creativity and out-of-the-box thinking.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate course of action and make independent decisions on significant matters.
• Develop program statements and programs for assigned civil capital projects.
• Evaluate consultant proposals and participate in selection for projects.
• Prepare and implement contracts with consultant firms for projects.
• Direct activities of engineers and other professionals; conduct project meetings and tracking.
