Job summary

University of Michigan in Ann Arbor seeks a Senior Architect to lead design for capital projects. The role reports to the Director for Design/University, guiding architecture teams, consultants, and project delivery from planning through construction.

The ideal candidate holds a professional architecture license, a Bachelor's in Architecture (Master's preferred), and 5+ years of leading complex projects. The position offers a hybrid work environment and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architecture required; Master's preferred.
• State license to practice architecture.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing design execution for complex projects.
• LEED Green Associate or BD+C credential required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate course of action and make independent decisions on significant matters.
• Develop architectural program statements and building programs for capital projects.
• Evaluate consultant proposals and participate in project selection.
• Prepare and execute contracts with professional consultants for projects.
• Direct activities of architects, engineers, interior designers and other professionals.
• Develop and maintain high quality standards in architecture and manage the design process.
• Advise clients and administrators on facility planning, building design, and construction criteria.
• Prepare graphics and narrative reports for projects and present findings.
• Review campus plans for regulatory compliance and alignment with University goals.
