Job summary

Department of City Planning in New York City seeks a Senior City Map Planner to update and maintain the City Map, review proposed changes, and coordinate across divisions and external partners. The role requires strong communication, GIS expertise, and the ability to manage multiple projects with careful attention to policy and mapping details.

Responsibilities include drafting reports, presenting to the City Planning Commission, and guiding the transition from legacy maps to a modern GIS

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in city planning or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree plus one year of city planning experience.
• Equivalent education/experience combination allowed.

Responsibilities

• Review and process City Map changes.
• Coordinate reviews among divisions and agencies.
• Draft official reports and letters.
• Provide technical assistance to applicants and staff.
• Maintain City Map records and GIS data.
• Drive transition to a digital GIS system.
• Coordinate with city agencies and external partners.
• Perform related tasks.
