Job summary

New York City Department of City Planning seeks a City Map Engineer to update and maintain the official City Map, review alteration maps, and support compliance with surveying standards. You will report to the City Map Team Leader and coordinate with city agencies on street and park mapping.

Responsibilities include maintaining monuments data, reviewing private survey submissions, providing technical guidance, managing data requests, and driving the transition to a city-wide GIS system.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time civil engineering experience.
• Must maintain NY Professional Engineer license.
• Master's degree may substitute one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Review Alteration Maps for accuracy and sign maps.
• Maintain City's monument data and elevation benchmarks.
• Review work of private surveyors and engineers and documents.
• Provide technical advice to applicants and agencies on streets and related features.
• Field and manage street status and monument data requests.
• Maintain records and drive the GIS transition.
• Coordinate with staff and city agencies.
