Job summary

The Department of City Planning is seeking a Chief of Mapping to lead the City Map Team, shaping workflows and internal processes for the City Map of New York City. The role requires coordinating with TRD and external stakeholders to improve mapping practices.

You will supervise a small team, liaising with agencies and private sector professionals to ensure accurate, up-to-date map data and compliant city planning standards. Remote work up to two days weekly may be available.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in city planning or accredited field plus four years of city planning experience.
• Minimum 3 years of managerial experience supervising technical or operational teams.
• Experience with land survey techniques and road design is a plus.
• Experience with NYC land use review processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Establish workflows, procedures and standards for City Map maintenance and amendments.
• Recruit, coach and manage a team of up to 6 engineers and city planners.
• Coordinate City Map and Zoning Map activities with TRD leadership and other agencies.
• Review work of private surveyors and engineers for City Map maintenance.
