Job summary

IREN is seeking a Chiller Specialist to serve as the most senior technical authority on shift for the central utility plant at our West Texas and Oklahoma campuses. You will own the safe, reliable operation of the thermal chain, including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and water treatment systems to support AI compute loads.

You will act as the technical lead for the mechanical team, write and validate procedures, and oversee complex corrective work and vendor overhauls.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting large-tonnage chiller plants.
• Minimum 3 years in a mission-critical environment such as data centers or similar.
• EPA Section 608 Universal certification is required.
• Experience with centrifugal and screw chillers from major OEMs.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, schematics and control sequences.

Responsibilities

• Own the safe, reliable operation of the central utility plant (CUP).
• Write and validate Methods of Procedure.
• Lead complex corrective work and vendor-supported overhauls.
• Share technical expertise with Chiller Technicians and apprentices.
• Act as incident commander for thermal events.
