Job summary

IREN is seeking a Chiller Technician I to help operate and maintain the central utility plant at our West Texas and Oklahoma campuses. This entry-level, on-site role offers structured training and a path toward Technician II/III and Chiller Specialist, with shift work including nights and on-call rotations.

You'll work under supervision within the mechanical team, gaining hands-on experience with chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and direct-to-chip liquid cooling, while following SOPs and safety

Qualifications

• 1+ years hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting chillers or HVAC plant
• EPA Section 608 certification (Type II minimum)
• Basic knowledge of chiller refrigerant circuits, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, VFDs and hydronic systems
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics
• Willingness to train on direct-to-chip and immersion liquid cooling systems
• Familiarity with BMS and CMMS usage
• High school diploma; trade school or associate degree preferred
• Must live within commutable distance of the assigned campus; relocation assistance available

Responsibilities

• Central utility plant operation (supervised): assist with operating, monitoring and maintaining the CUP
• Preventive maintenance execution on central utility plant equipment
• Liquid cooling support for direct-to-chip and immersion cooling infrastructure
• Operational rounds and readings across mechanical systems
• Basic troubleshooting and escalation of faults
• Water treatment support
• Incident response and post-incident reviews
• Procedure and safety compliance
• Contractor oversight and CMMS/documentation
• Continuous learning and progression toward higher technician levels
