Job description

Charge Master Coordinator

This position will oversee all charge master functions, including charge maintenance activities, charge system integration, establishing and updating prices, and change control across the health system.

1. Ensure appropriate charge master maintenance occurs.
2. Oversee External System Charge Interfaces.
3. Maintain Grant Pricing and perform financial analysis for operational and executive use.
4. Monitor regulatory changes from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services to ensure CDM compliance.
5. Develop relationships with payors to resolve issues.
6. Maintain compliance standards for providing accurate information on all facility claims.
7. Carry out other assignments or special projects as assigned.
8. Ensure all charges for complex service lines are captured and documented per policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
9. Conduct chart audit reviews to verify the accuracy of clinical documentation and charge capture.
10. Review medical records and utilize coding expertise to ensure charges are supported by clinical documentation.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $69,201.60 - $110,718.40 annually.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree required or relevant experience considered in lieu of degree.
• Experience: At least five years in a complex hospital setting, with knowledge of third-party billing, reimbursement methodologies, CPT Level II and III HCPCS, and hospital charging methods. Basic understanding of medical terminology is necessary.
• Licensure: None.

Physical Demands

Prolonged sitting, frequent travel (up to two miles), repetitive typing, and ability to lift/push/pull < 20 lbs. Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail; ability to write legibly; exposure to varying climates may occur.
