Job Responsibilities
The Cosmetic Counter Manager reports to the Sales Team Manager/Store Manager and ensures the uniform execution of the Belk direction within their store. They are responsible for meeting and exceeding goals established by Belk and the cooperative vendor by coaching associates on how to sell custom-fit services and build long-term customer relationships.
Development Responsibilities
- Analyze daily/weekly/monthly business and recommend strategies to impact business to Store Management and Vendor Account Executive.
- Manage the achievement of counter sales plan by helping each associate meet or exceed personal SPH goals based on counter volume standard.
- Recruit, interview, and retain quality staff. Keep open positions to an average of no more than 2 weeks.
- Develop bench strength in existing staff and recommend candidates for promotion or added responsibility.
- Implement effective scheduling to guarantee proper coverage based on business needs.
- Utilize Belk/Store promotional calendar to maximize associate SPH.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with the team, focusing on specific behavior outcomes, using reinforcement techniques, and setting goals with follow-up dates.
- Conduct team meetings prior to major events and launches, and regular briefings with Beauty Advisors.
- Communicate inventory needs to store management.
Sales Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed personal sales per hour goals.
- Demonstrate excellent selling skills and customer service as a role model.
- Execute successful promotions and special events.
- Drive sales through customer clienteling.
- Work with store management to optimize business-to-business sales.
- Achieve assigned sales line goals and identify/reduce shrinkage.
Customer Service Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed SPH and credit application goals.
- Thank customers by name after purchases.
- Handle transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Provide high-level customer service to support satisfaction surveys.
- Build and maintain a customer clientele base.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain store standards in presentation and hygiene.
- Unpack and store new merchandise promptly.
- Set up signage for promotions.
- Follow procedures for inventory control, markdowns, and other systems.
- Maintain professional dress standards and cooperate with team members.
- Comply with store policies and accept additional duties as needed.
- Maintain communication with management, account executives, and vendors.
Minimum Education & Experience
- No formal education requirement.
- 3-5 years retail experience.
- 1-3 years supervisory experience.
- Strong organizational skills.
Knowledge / Skills Requirements
- Proficiency with computers, POS systems, and related equipment.
- Ability to manipulate sensors and apply makeup/treatment to customers.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to push/pull 100-500 pounds when moving stock carts.
- Ability to lift 25-50 pound boxes and reach above/below shoulder level.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
