Job summary

Sanmina Corporation is seeking a Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) to advance welding processes, metallurgy, and NDT oversight. You will design, qualify WPS/PQR/WPQ, and ensure compliance with AWS, ASME, API, and ISO standards while supporting design and manufacturing teams to optimize joints and reduce costs.

You will lead root-cause analysis on weld defects, guide CAPA actions, and mentor junior engineers and technicians in lean manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in welding engineering or related field required.
• Active AWS CWEng certification required.
• 5+ years of progressive welding engineering experience in manufacturing or heavy fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Develop, qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and related records (PQR, WPQ) per codes (AWS, ASME, API, ISO).
• Collaborate with design/manufacturing teams to optimize weld joint design and manufacturability.
• Lead root-cause analysis on weld defects and material failures; implement CAPA.
• Oversee welding quality and NDT methods (VT, UT, RT, MT, PT) and acceptance criteria.
• Evaluate welding equipment, automation, and tooling to boost productivity.
• Audit suppliers and sub-tier vendors for compliance with specs and quality.
• Provide training and mentorship to welding technicians and engineers.
