Job summary
Custom Engineering seeks a Welding Engineer to oversee welding engineering, QA compliance, and procedure qualifications for fabrication operations. You will manage WPS/PQR, ensure adherence to ASME IX, AWS D1.1, and NAVSEA codes, and supervise weld mapping and certification processes.
You will collaborate with HR and shop leadership to develop welders, perform audits, and maintain records for seven years. Strong drawings literacy and effective communication are essential in a fast-paced
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology.
- Strong knowledge of FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and SAW welding processes and NDE (RT, UT, MT, PT, VT).
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage WPS and PQR per ASME IX, AWS D1.1, NAVSEA codes.
- Review orders, drawings, and specs to ensure qualified procedures exist.
- Oversee weld mapping, data reports, and stamping of code tags.
- Lead internal welding audits and support external quality audits.
