Job summary

Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group is seeking a Senior Medical Assistant Certified (Sr. MA) to provide expert clinical support under physician and Registered Nurse supervision. The role includes assisting with examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, dressing changes and EMR tasks, while upholding CLIA, HIPAA and NCQA standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum five years of medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA or Registered Medical Assistant or EMT and BLS required.
• Preferred CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA).

Responsibilities

• Support physicians and nurses during examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, and dressing changes.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify eligibility for care.
• Independently precept and serve as a clinical resource to Medical Assistants, training others as appropriate.
• Document patient information in EMR and ensure care quality and safety.
• Collaborate with interprofessional team to promote patient satisfaction and efficient clinic operations.
