Job summary

CDM Smith's CEI team is seeking a Field Inspector to inspect and monitor construction activities at project sites. The role requires performing complex inspections across roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion & control, and maintenance/traffic categories, with up to 40% travel.

You will read and interpret plans, contract provisions and specifications, document results, and collaborate with supervision. A high school diploma and relevant certifications (ACI/NICET) are preferred; 6 years of

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET/ACI in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 6 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performing both complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate if materials and processes meet plans, specs and special provisions.
• Uses higher-grade equipment and performs complex calculations for inspections.
• Works under limited or direct supervision depending on assignment.
• Reviewing drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Documenting and communicating inspection results to the supervisor.
