Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a field inspector to join our CEI team, performing complex and routine construction inspections at project sites. You will assess roadway, bridge, drainage, erosion control, and maintenance aspects, ensuring workmanship meets plans and specifications.

The role requires strong communication in English and the ability to lead junior inspectors. On-site work at diverse project locations with travel up to 40% may be required; a valid driver's license and relevant certifications

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by jurisdiction.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency depends on duties and project needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to evaluate materials and construction processes against plans, specs, and provisions.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations during inspections.
• Work under varying supervision depending on assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
