Job summary

Gibson Dunn in Houston seeks a Supervisor, Catering & Hospitality to lead the office’s catering and hospitality function. You’ll manage the team and own planning and execution of office and client-facing events, delivering premium service to clients, attorneys, and staff.

You will report to the Houston Director of Administration, coordinating with facilities and procurement. The role requires evenings/weekends and local travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Leading, training, and motivating a service team.
• Upscale hospitality knowledge and guest experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Sound judgment for live events and decisions.
• Strong organizational skills for high-volume events.
• Proficient in MS Office; catering/event software a plus.
• Food safety knowledge; certification preferred or willing to obtain.
• Collaborative, dependable attitude for team support.
• Exceptional customer service and professional etiquette.
• Integrity and discretion handling confidential information.
• Valid driver's license and own transportation.
• Willingness to travel locally and work evenings/weekends.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day catering team operations and scheduling.
• Run firm cafes and staff areas for high-end daily service.
• Maintain service standards for food, beverage, and etiquette.
• Plan and execute local office/client events end-to-end.
• Partner with facilities on event logistics and staffing.
• Lead menu planning with vendors and internal staff.
• Be the primary client contact for event and hospitality support.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate rates.
• Identify ways to improve service and offerings.
• Oversee attendee management and materials for events.
• Plan staff appreciation programs and office gatherings.
• Maintain event calendars and SOPs for recurring events.
• Manage catering supplies and inventory levels.
• Review invoices and provide cost reporting to leadership.
