Job summary

Arch Insurance Group Inc. is seeking a Senior Claims Examiner, Casualty, to actively manage commercial claims for high severity general liability and associated excess and umbrella policies across the United States.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of working experience with a primary or excess carrier supporting commercial Casualty claims.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to build relationships across teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Willingness to travel 10%.
• Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of experience in lieu of degree.
• Proper & active adjuster licensing in all applicable states.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess coverage issues, draft coverage position letters, and retain coverage counsel when necessary.
• Develop and implement strategy related to coverage issues aligned with overall matters entrusted to the handler.
• Develop timely resolution strategies to mitigate indemnity and expense exposures.
• Maintain contact with claims staff, underwriters, defense counsel, and brokers to communicate developments.
• Investigate claims and review insured materials and documents.
• Review statutes, rules, and case law across jurisdictions.
• Review litigation materials including depositions and expert reports.
• Analyze coverage, liability and damages to assess reserves.
• Prepare written/oral reports to senior management with issues and reserves.
• Travel to mediations, trials and proceedings across the United States.
• Negotiate resolutions of claims.
• Retain counsel when necessary and direct counsel.
• Maintain a diary of claims and post reserves timely.
