Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking a Senior Carpenter for the General Services Department to perform general building construction, preventative maintenance, and repair work across municipal facilities. The role includes PM inspections, tile, door, and hardware work, and related maintenance tasks for about 180 City facilities.

You will read blueprints, calculate costs, and participate in an on-call rotation while ensuring safety and teamwork in a city-maintained environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Read blueprints and diagrams to perform construction tasks.
• Overtime/weekend/on-call requirements and driving responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform building construction duties including cabinet making, framing, ceiling tile work and door maintenance.
• Obtain materials as needed and maintain records/timesheets.
• Read plans/diagrams and participate in on-call rotation.
