Job summary

The University of California, Berkeley seeks an Accountant to join the Capital Projects Accounting team, applying GAAP to capital project financial management, reviewing and reconciling complex data, and ensuring proper cost allocation in line with sponsor requirements. The role emphasizes technical expertise in Unifier, BFS, BIBS, and CalAnswers and supports financial reporting and project closeouts.

Collaboration with Controller's Office, AP, AR, Bearbuy, and other campus partners is essential

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of accounting functions.
• Ability to extract, verify, and compile accounting information from multiple sources.
• Advanced ability to present complex accounting and finance information verbally and in writing.
• Advanced experience using financial transactions and systems and related policy and compliance.
• Advanced knowledge of common desktop/web applications.
• Advanced knowledge of analytical procedures used in accounting projects of complex scope.
• Understanding of the interrelationship between procedures and results.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and interprets complex financial reports and records using multiple systems to support decision-making.
• Develops and maintains accounting systems and integrations for capital projects.
• Performs complex financial analysis to forecast outcomes and guide planning.
• Prepares and reconciles general ledger accounts and journal entries; supports audits.
• Maintains records in Unifier, Bearbuy, and BFS; ensures data accuracy for reporting.
