Job summary

1X is building the core camera stack for home robotics, shipping reliable imaging pipelines from sensor selection through in-line calibration. You will own end-to-end responsibility for camera systems, ensuring synchronization, latency, and image quality that enables perception models to operate in real homes.

We’re seeking engineers with hands-on embedded Linux, V4L2, MIPI CSI-2, and calibration expertise who can push calibration into production and scale fleets of robots in households.

Qualifications

• 5+ years shipping camera or imaging software in production systems: robotics, autonomous devices, or AR/VR.
• Hands-on experience bringing up image sensors on embedded Linux, including V4L2, MIPI CSI-2, and the driver and device tree work.
• Demonstrated experience with camera intrinsic and extrinsic calibration, including validating calibration quality.
• Strong C++ in performance-critical systems with profiling and debugging to locate frame/millisecond sinks.

Responsibilities

• Own the camera stack end-to-end from sensor and lens selection to production calibration.
• Define requirements with hardware and perception teams, run trade studies, and shepherd vendor engagements.
• Deliver a camera pipeline with reliable frame delivery, synchronized timestamps, and latency compliance.
• Tune image paths for machine perception, not human observers, across diverse home environments.
• Make calibration a production process, with automated validation and fleet monitoring.
