Job summary

1X in San Carlos, CA is seeking a senior Camera Systems Engineer to own the camera stack end to end, from sensor and lens selection through calibration on the production line. You will ensure low-latency, robust image data feeding perception models in real homes.

You will collaborate with hardware, perception, and manufacturing teams to design calibration processes, drive ISP tuning, and deliver a production-ready pipeline that scales across fleets.

Qualifications

• 5+ years shipping camera or imaging software in production systems: robotics, autonomous devices, or AR/VR
• Hands-on experience bringing up image sensors on embedded Linux, including V4L2, MIPI CSI-2, and driver/DT work
• Demonstrated experience with camera intrinsic and extrinsic calibration, with validation of calibration quality
• Strong C++ in performance-critical systems, with profiling and debugging habits

Responsibilities

• Own camera selection end to end: define sensor, lens and module requirements with hardware and perception teams, run trade studies and bring-up on real hardware
• Deliver a camera pipeline that holds up in production: sensor drivers, multi-camera sync and timestamping, frame delivery with latency budget
• Tune the image path for machines rather than for people: exposure, white balance, dynamic range for accurate perception in real homes
• Make calibration a production process, not a lab procedure: intrinsics/extrinsics calibrated on the line with automatic validation and fleet drift monitoring
