Job summary

Overland AI in Seattle, WA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own the end-to-end reliability and performance of our autonomy stack written in C++. You will bridge research and production, profiling, optimizing, and scaling software across perception, planning, and controls.

You’ll design fault-tolerant architectures, implement IPC patterns, and work with domain experts to deploy production-grade code.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Masters in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of production-grade C++ development.
• Expert-level C++ (C++17/20) in large distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, concurrency, memory management.
• Experience debugging with tools (GDB, perf).
• Experience designing complex distributed software systems.
• Comfortable with uncertainty and rapidly changing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design robust architectures for autonomous operations.
• Profile and optimize critical-path C++ code to reduce latency.
• Collaborate with perception, planning, and controls teams.
• Build observability and resilience features: logging, debugging, evaluation hooks.
• Triage root-cause issues across subsystem boundaries.
• Ensure end-to-end reliability and performance of the autonomy stack.
