Job summary

Overland AI in Seattle, WA, is seeking a Software Engineer to strengthen the behavior and planning backbone of our autonomy stack. You will bridge algorithmic research with real-world robotics, ensuring end-to-end reliability and performance of the robotic software system.

You will collaborate across perception, planning, and controls, optimize C++ trajectories, profile memory usage, and contribute to a fault-tolerant, production-grade system on edge hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Masters in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years experience developing and deploying production-level code.
• Proficiency in Python and ability to site-read code.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, concurrent programming, memory management.
• Experience with profiling and debugging tools (GDB, perf).
• Experience designing complex distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust architectures for autonomous operations.
• Profile, benchmark, and optimize critical-path C++ code to reduce latency.
• Collaborate with Perception, Planning, and Controls teams to integrate algorithms.
• Build observability, logging, and evaluation hooks for reliability.
• Investigate and triage root causes across subsystem boundaries.
