Stellar is seeking a software engineer to design, build, and implement changes to Stellar Core, the backbone software for the Stellar Network. You will work on performance, decentralization, and robust architectures with input from CTO and open-source contributors.

Required: 4+ years of software development, BS/MS in CS, and strong C++ or Rust skills. You will thrive in a collaborative, autonomous team on a hybrid schedule in San Francisco.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience developing software on a team.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Proficient in modern C++ or Rust in production.
• Excellent communicator; lead design/code reviews.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns; modular systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build key components of Stellar Core – the backbone of the Stellar Network.
• Develop robust, scalable, and extensible technologies for developers and network participants.
• Collaborate on architectures with CTO, engineers, and open-source community.
• Write clean, maintainable code with attention to edge cases and future-proofing.
• Own core subsystems and help hit critical product milestones.
• Participate in code reviews and establish engineering best practices.
• Investigate and refactor performance bottlenecks to scale the system.
• Draft RFCs and technical specifications for new features.
