Job summary

Stellar Development Foundation is seeking a senior software engineer to design, build, and improve Stellar Core—the backbone of the Stellar Network. You will work on distributed systems, performance optimization, and scalable architectures in a small, autonomous team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience developing software on a team.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent field.
• Proficient in writing code in modern C++ or Rust in production.
• Excellent communicator capable of leading technical discussions during design and code reviews.
• Solid understanding of software design patterns and building reusable, extensible components.
• Knowledge of development tools and best practices; passionate about innovation.
• Strong focus on performance debugging and benchmarking.
• Enthusiastic about autonomy in a small, growing team and collaborative problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Design and build key components of Stellar Core—the backbone software behind the Stellar Network.
• Develop robust, scalable, and extensible technologies for developers and network participants.
• Collaborate with CTO and engineers to design architectures and subsystems; contribute to RFC processes.
• Write clean, maintainable code with attention to edge cases and future-proofing.
• Own core subsystems of Stellar Core and help the team hit milestones.
• Participate in code reviews and establish engineering best practices.
• Investigate and refactor performance bottlenecks to keep the system scaling.
